Network, Learn, Celebrate, Inspire.

By Five recently used their 2023 Victorian Early Years Awards funding to host “Network, Learn, Celebrate, Inspire,” a dynamic event bringing together dedicated professionals supporting children in the Wimmera region. Attendees included GPs, educators, allied health professionals, maternal and child health nurses, paediatricians, school principals, psychologists, and community leaders.

The day began with an update on the By Five story followed by sessions on ‘vicarious trauma’ and ‘infant slow weight gain and allergies’, facilitated by experts Dr. Nyree Hutchinson and Dr. Nelu Jayawardena. These sessions fostered valuable learning and networking opportunities for professionals working with children.

An evening dinner followed, creating a warm and collaborative atmosphere where attendees shared experiences, discussed challenges, and sparked new ideas. Keynote speaker Dr. Michela Sorensen delivered an inspiring presentation on the power of social capital and the essential role of community. Her reflections on growing up in Ouyen highlighted how connections and shared values shape resilience and opportunities, especially in early childhood.

The event left everyone inspired, recognising the strength and potential within the Wimmera community. Moving forward, By Five will continue to leverage and strengthen collaborations with our community to improve outcomes for the Wimmera’s children.
