Antenatal care – the foundational piece of the child development journey, but how accessible is this care in the Wimmera Southern Mallee?

We are continuing to work to understand the landscape of local antenatal care, both from a service perspective, and from the parent and community perspective. We have been speaking with women around the Wimmera about how they have experienced antenatal, and broader maternity care, throughout their pregnancies.

In August, the Australian College of Midwives and the Rural Doctors Association of Australia coordinated a national forum to drive solutions to improve and sustain access to safe and quality maternity care in rural and remote Australia.

It is great to hear conversations taking place regarding how safe, quality maternity care can be delivered in a rural setting with women and families at the center.
